Versatile DSP options
The DSP preset selection is where it really gets interesting with the Praxis12. This is a musicians' dream and makes the monitor highly attractive to its demographic due to its incredibly versatility. Included in the Praxis is a tweeter array which comprises of three high frequency drivers, specifically designed to give a wide dispersion and greater high end clarity - both meaning to will hear every detailed nuance of your instrument. Combined with that is the high powered low frequency driver, designed to reproduce the mid to low range frequencies of your instrument with maximum efficiency and punch - you will feel every beat! All put together the Praxis will accentuate the tones and timbres of your instrument to give you the very best sound.
"Normal" is excellent for a smooth natural sound. The frequency curve provides a gradual low frequency roll off. This helps remove unwanted sub-frequency energy. Gentle dips in the low-mids remove any "boom" or "boxiness". There's also a dip in the high mids to automatically reduce any harshness with a gradual rise at the top end for a professional sheen.
"Guitar" is designed to replicate the sound of directly injected electric or electro-acoustic guitars. The frequency curve shows a low frequency roll off with a subtle boost at 100Hz-200Hz to provide body and weight. This accurately relays the resonance you'd get from your acoustic. Boosts at 1kHz-3kHz provides plenty of definition and plectrum attack. Allowing the guitar to cut through and be heard clearly. This is reinforced by the generous top end boost, adding a great sense of clarity.
"Keyboard" is designed to convey the natural quality of most digital pianos and keyboards. The frequency curve displays a gradual roll off at 70Hz with dips in the low-mids to remove frequencies that may cloud your perception of the sound. Boosts in the mid frequencies and high end ensure a great sense of presence.
"Drums" accurately conveys the sound of most electronic drum kits. The low frequency boost between 60Hz-80Hz provides a great deal of sub energy. Allowing your kick, bass, and toms to be not only heard, but felt. This generous boost is tamed by a natural roll off. Removing low end rumble to further define your sound. This definition is reinforced through the high frequency boost that brings out the attack of drum hits. Providing an excellent sense of "punch" and energy.
