Flexible connectivity with built-in Dante and SLink
The Allen & Heath QU-6D Digital Mixer With Dante offers multiple ways to integrate with existing systems and scale up as needed. Its built-in 16x16 Dante interface provides direct routing to other Dante-enabled hardware, supporting both 48kHz and 96kHz operation. This setup works well in installations, portable rigs or digital networked environments. Dante support is fixed at 16x16 channels—enough for typical room or device routing setups.
An additional SLink port connects to the Allen & Heath Everything I/O range. This includes legacy 48kHz dSnake units like AR2412 and modern 96kHz DX/GX expanders. For engineers working across legacy and new gear, this dual compatibility makes setup fast and flexible while maintaining audio quality throughout.
Intuitive hands-on control with touchscreen and motorised faders
Mixing on the QU-6D is clear and fast thanks to its 7” capacitive touchscreen and 25 motorised faders. The touchscreen supports swipe and tap navigation with instant access to channel settings, FX, routing and metering. In fast-paced environments like live events or corporate AV, quick access to essential controls is critical.
The 25 motorised faders are spread over four channel layers, making it easy to manage a busy session without constant banking. Fully customisable layers let users build a layout that suits their workflow. Eight SoftKeys are available for assigning mute groups, scene changes or other shortcuts, streamlining regular tasks with just one tap.
Comprehensive I/O for real-world mixing needs
The QU-6D includes 36 mix inputs and 12 outputs to manage complex routing needs with ease. There are 24 mic/line combi sockets, two stereo line input pairs, and a talkback input. On the output side, it provides 16 XLR sockets, two TRS jacks, a stereo AES3 digital output and a headphone out, giving plenty of options for live and install scenarios.
The matrix section includes four configurable outputs. There are also stereo aux/group outputs and mono auxes for foldback, zone control or broadcast sends. Engineers get a clear signal path to each destination, while chromatic LED metering shows live status on every channel strip, helping users keep track of active signals during the performance.
Multitrack recording and playback made simple
Multitrack capture and playback are built into the QU-6D. USB-C and SD card options provide 32x32 or 16x16 channel recording depending on sample rate. A USB-A port supports stereo playback and backups. With direct-to-media recording, users can capture rehearsals or live shows without needing a computer on site.
SD card support is especially useful in semi-permanent setups or compact rigs. Recordings are saved as WAV files, ready for editing or archiving. The USB-C audio interface allows direct DAW connection for recording or playback. This gives users flexible options for both live capture and studio post-production from a single device.
Built-in effects, assistants and advanced processing
QU-6D includes six powerful FX engines with ready-to-go return channels. Reverb, delay and modulation effects come built in, using refined algorithms developed by Allen & Heath. Firmware updates are planned to unlock even more FX capabilities, including options inspired by the CQ series.
Additional tools like the 32-channel Automatic Mic Mixer (AMM) improve vocal control in speech-focused setups. The Gain Assistant and Feedback Assistant help users set up quickly and reduce on-site errors. These features make the QU-6D a practical option for both seasoned engineers and newcomers looking for support from the desk itself.
