Expanded functionality

Volcano 2 has been developed from the ground up to include a myriad of new and improved features over the previous version that will help improve your workflow and give you more flexibility. To start with, you are provided with four full-featured, multi-mode filters that can be routed in a number of different ways (including Per-Channel and Mid-Side). A newly-designed drag-and-drop modulation system lets you quickly and easily experiment with transforming the character of your sound as well as a 24-slot modulation matrix. Further expansion comes in the form of XY controllers, XLFO's (compared to the previous LFO's), Envelope Generators, Envelope Followers and of course MIDI modulation capability. Additionally, Volcano 2 gives you some additional mixing facilities to help you seamlessly integrate to your mixes with the inclusion of a side-chain input to trigger Envelope Generators or feed Envelope Followers.

Revolutionary interface design

For creative sound design, it's integral to have an interface that inspires and is not too clustered that it can be a hindrance to your process, with Volcano 2, FabFilter has taken the interface design to a new level by employing the 'what you use is what you see' concept. In this, Volcano 2 only displays the parameters and matrix blocks that you have engaged, leaving out anything else so you can quickly make adjustments to your settings without tedious menu-diving that can stifle the creative process. Now, you can quickly experiment with each and every feature and audition which one will work best for your sound without spending a tremendous amount of time opening and closing windows within the plugin.

This simple idea is vital in improving your workflow, helping you stay within the groove and keep your ideas on track without being derailed. Asking the simple question of, do you want another filter or Envelope Follower or to remove a modulation source? Simply add it or remove it! Drag-and-drop modulation

Getting started with modulation within Volcano 2 is incredibly easy, with an intuitive drag-and-drop system where you can insert any amount of XLFO's, Envelope Generators, Envelope Followers and MIDI sources as you will ever need together in a customized chain. The new and improved modulation sources ensure that you will be able to freely express your creativity and achieve the sound in your head with absolute ease, whether you're looking to offset your XLFO Speed to the attack parameter of your Envelope Follower or the frequency of your filter to the release of your Envelope Generator, Volcano 2 lets you actualise your design.

The newly designed XLFO provides you with a seemingly endless array of options to create unique and exciting sounds, including anything from a simple sine wave to a fully programmable 16-step sequencer. Other modulation sources can be generated through MIDI modulation, letting you modulate parameters using any form of MIDI data, making Volcano 2 the ultimate solution for the live musician whereby you can use your plug-in as an instrument and 'perform' in changes to your sound design giving your show a live and organic feel that moves with energy and emotion to keep your listeners engaged.
