What sets Envolution apart from other envelope shapers is the spectral shaping capabilities. Targetting specific frequencies to alter the curve and response of the transient and sustain offers a tremendous level of versatility that opens up a wide tonal palette for music production and post-production.
Using the frequency control, you can independently process the effect of the transient and sustain parameters in targetted frequency ranges. Featuring two types of curves, you can select Focus filtering which offers a single parametric band or a Tilt filter which offers a high or low-frequency bias across the entire spectrum. Ideal for suppressing resonant frequencies, Focus mode lets you dynamically reduce the transient of a specific frequency ring within a snare drum recording to achieve a more natural sustain than a typical gate or transient shaper could achieve. Tilt mode defaults to a slope of 6dB/octave but can be varied to a much higher degree. Perfect for crafting gentle changes across the full frequency range, the Tilt mode is ideal when working with full instrument mixes such as a drum bus to help add punch and sustain in the low-end whilst minimising the effect of cymbals.

When boosting the transient attack of an audio track such as drums or percussion, the peak dynamic level will often be driven into digital clipping if pushed quite hard. To alleviate this problem, Oxford Envolution includes the Warmth control that applies a harmonic saturation-type process to subdue the peak levels of the accented transients. Introducing the Warmth control will absorb the peak signal while retaining the impression of more dynamic range and adding a subtle distortion character, making it ideal for drum shells and percussion tracks. When used in conjunction with the Mix control, you can blend in the warmth control in parallel with the rest of your transient shaping to maintain some dry signal for a more natural character.
