Shining on soul, pop, rock and blues productions, Dandy is can be taken from soft and round to bright and punchy for all manner of vintage and contemporary mixing styles. A boutique, hand-selected instrument has been painstakingly sampled with flat-wound strings to give that signature roundness and warmth. Playing nice with pianos, synths and guitars, Dandy can lift your production to the next level.

Sophisticated charm and character

This versatile boutique instrument is made more expansive with the inclusion of the powerful and intuitive processors onboard the plug-in. Following other UJAM Virtual Bassists, Dandy includes a selection of amplifiers alongside a direct mode to help you quickly find the right sound for your mix. Powered by stunning DSP technology, the amplifier selection includes Raw, Vintage and Cream. Nothing in the extreme, these amplifiers offer a signature flavour to your tone, shaping the midrange to either sit within a mix or to cut through above pianos and synthesizers. For experienced producers, the Direct mode removes all amplifier allows you to use your own third-party amplifier and cabinet simulations to find the right tone for your mix.

Paired with the amplifier selection is the Character control to shape the overall frequency response and tone of your Dandy bassist. Four characteristics are on offer, Warm, Round, Natural and Brilliant, each imparting a unique tonal palette as well as altering the dynamic range of your instrument.

Ideal for manipulating the timbre of the bass itself, a seamless pickup dial is provided to virtually move the fingering position of your UJAM Dandy bassist. Sliding towards the neck pickup will give you a rounder tone that's perfect for laying down the groove and locking in with your drums, whilst the bridge pickup adds a midrange boost to cut through for melodic passages. For added realism and authenticity, automating this control back and forth between sections injects movement and organic tone to your productions.

Staple studio production tools are included on simple dials to quickly get radio-ready sounds. EQ is presented on a single knob that morphs from neutral, deep and present. Descriptive terms used to explain low and high-frequency shelves means that even non-experienced musicians or producers can achieve the sounds they need quickly. Combined with the single knob compressor, you can tame any unwanted dynamics for a consistent and balanced sound, perfect when laying down solid grooves.

Divided into common songwriting sections such as intros, fills and verses, you can hone in on a specific part to fill the gap in your production. The smart technology behind the Virtual Bassist series means that not only will Dandy automatically follow the key and chord you play, but it will also intelligently select the most musical bass articulations available to support your tracks.

For experienced performers, Instrument mode lets you experiment with the full offering inside of Dandy. Unlock every note and technique included with the meticulously sampled instrument via your MIDI controller or keyboard. Expressive control is afforded with the inclusion of muted notes, slides and stop techniques which can be accessed via the key switches and modulation/pitch wheel bending.
