Honest and raw, Mellow is the perfect sound and feel for your hip-hop jams, jazz trio or big band productions. Adding realness and authenticity to your tracks, the upright has been captured in stunning detail even as far as encompassing all of the real-life noises you hear on a vintage instrument - from finger slides to the faintest of creaks, Mellow is true to itself. Providing the signature thump, body and texture to your tracks, Mellow is as perfectly suited to melodic, walking bass lines as it is to pulled back, full whole note passages.

Not short of character, UJAM Mellow features an array of sound design and studio production tools onboard to enhance the vibe and mood of your upright bass. Recorded in meticulous detail with four different microphone setups, you can add a distinct flavour of tone to your Mellow Virtual Bassist. Hollow, Full, Round and Present all offer a unique sonic signature with a tailored frequency response, enabling you to quickly and easily find the right microphone for your mix and style - without ever needing to enter a studio!

Performance-altering tools are provided via the Character and Position dial. A five-way Character switch shapes the performance style along with the dynamic range of your Mellow Bassist. Traverse everything from Soft and Deep to help fit the pocket of a jazz groove, leaving space for a soloing piano or guitar or jump into Hard and Tight characteristics to help punch through a vintage hip-hop beat. Controlling the overall timbre of your instrument is the Position dial that seamlessly blends between neck and bridge plucking techniques. Regardless of what microphone or character parameters you have selected, the position of your hand when playing an upright bass determines the overall tonal quality of your sound. Move the position towards the neck for a more rounded and soft tone that's ideal for laying back in the groove or pluck towards the bridge to add punch and midrange that's perfect for walking up the fretboard. Automating between both creates a truly authentic and realistic performance in the exact same way a studio pro would when performing their parts.

Important studio production tools are provided in the form of the onboard room ambience control, EQ and compressor. Presented in easy-to-use formats based on a single dial, the room ambience is a real-life room that's been recorded to add depth, realism and dimension to your sound. A single high and low shelf EQ is accessed via the onboard dial, letting you quickly change the tilt of the frequency response to add more brightness and articulation for intricate performances or add extra sub and weight to fill out slow jams. A highly dynamic instrument, the compressor is perfect for keeping your dynamics in check, ensuring that no matter how aggressive or soft you play, you won't cause any unwanted distortion or peaks and can always be heard.

Transform your sound with Finisher, Octave and Drop-D controls. Ideal for sound design, choose from 15 finisher multi-effects to transform your sound into a completely new instrument for experimental landscapes. Blending in the Octaver adds extra musically-tuned notes into your signal, letting you fill out the low-end without needing to reach for an EQ or finisher effect.

For experienced performers, Instrument mode lets you experiment with the full offering inside of Mellow. Unlock every note and technique included with the meticulously sampled instrument via your MIDI controller or keyboard. Expressive control is afforded with the inclusion of muted notes, slides and stop techniques which can be accessed via the key switches and modulation/pitch wheel bending.
