Start playing straight away. The Elkhart 100SS comes complete with a mouthpiece and ligature, as well as cork grease and a cleaning cloth for you to look after your instrument. The soft case is perfect for travelling to and from school and rehearsals with, as it provides a high level of protection, but it's also lightweight and easy to hold with adjustable straps.
You can adapt your soprano sax to make it comfortable for you with the included curved or straight crook. Sometimes a curved neck might be more comfortable, particularly for younger players, as it reduces the overall size, so the player doesn't have to reach as far. The curved option is also useful if you're looking to progress to playing an alto sax, allowing you to get used to holding this shape.
